SBS' proven ability to provide software and support to the complete satisfaction of blue chip companies has been matured over many years.
- Initially formed to address the embryonic market in PC based software, early success was found with both Branch Stock Control & Accounting and Housing Developer Applications.
- In 1984, Tarmac approached SBS with a request to build an Insurance and Claims Handling System (known as MIMS) and SBS' 25 year focus on Risk Management Information Systems had begun.
- After Tarmac, BT adopted the system to manage their Motor Claims programme. This was followed by a number of Public Limited Companies, Local Authorities and Specialised Claims Handling Organisations - using MIMS to manage claims on behalf of the likes of Shell, Marks & Spencer, Intercontinental Hotels and Mitchell & Butler. Many of these companies and Local Authorities remain customers today.
- The system has proven extremely reliable and highly scalable - our largest customers have had around 25,000 organisational departments, 50,000 claims per annum, 50 concurrent users and one has loaded Policy Information back to 1949.
- In the intervening period, many changes have occurred in the PC world and SBS has worked - through its User Group - to address each of them:-
- 1991 : MIMS re-developed for Windows
- 1998 : Web based Claim Entry
- 1999 : Web based full Claims Handling - eMims
- 2001 : Windows XP accommodated
- 2002 : Web based Incident Reporting - iMims
- More recently, MIMS has been chosen by GlaxoSmithKline, Kingfisher and Land Securities. Together with these partners SBS has introduced:-
- 2005 : MIMS Goods-in-Transit - First dotNET module
- 2006 : Launched SBS Hosting and Bureau Service
- 2006 : Enhanced MIMS to use a SQL Server Data Base
- 2007 : Launched MIMS RM
- 2008 : Delivered MIMS via Remote Access Software.
Throughout this period, SBS has evolved its present strategy of working with a few key customers and using its considerable expertise to satisfy their exact requirements.
